Microsoft Teams Direct Routing setup with a UK SBC
Step-by-step PowerShell wiring for Teams Direct Routing on a UK SBC, including caller-ID assignment and emergency calling.
Silux Call does not currently offer Microsoft Teams Direct Routing. This page explains what Direct Routing is so you can judge whether you need it; if it matters to you, tell our sales team.
What Direct Routing is
Direct Routing is the official Microsoft mechanism to pair a third-party SBC (Session Border Controller) with Teams Phone. The Teams client still rings and dials as before; the call itself runs over the chosen carrier instead of Microsoft's Calling Plan.
What you would need
- Microsoft 365 with a Teams Phone licence per user.
- A carrier that offers Direct Routing and its SBC details.
- A Teams administrator to run the PowerShell set-up (voice route, PSTN usage and voice routing policy).
- An emergency (999) location for every user, which Ofcom requires.
Using Silux Call alongside Teams
Teams users can run the Silux Call desktop or browser softphone next to Teams for their UK business number. Numbers are UK geographic (01/02), and porting is free on every paid plan.
